Text Updates for Your Stay

Plain-English details of the text messages you may receive from us when you inquire or book a stay at one of our Door County homes.

What we send: booking confirmations, payment reminders, check-in details, and stay-related support messages. Messages are always tied to a specific reservation or inquiry at one of our five Door County vacation rentals.

How often: approximately 2 to 10 messages per reservation, sent only during the period from booking through one day after checkout. Frequency may vary.

Cost: Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan.

How you opt in

When you inquire about or reserve one of our vacation rentals (Carraig Mór, Carraig Nua, Carraig Beag, Carraigeen, or Carraig Dale) you provide a mobile phone number as part of the booking on doorcountystay.com, which uses the OwnerRez booking platform.

By providing your mobile number in the course of booking or inquiry, just as you would at a hotel or any short-term rental, you consent to receive text messages from Door County Stay that relate specifically to your reservation or inquiry. You may also be asked directly (by message or email) whether you would like stay updates by text; you are free to say no, and no further messages will be sent.

Although text messaging is the most secure, direct and efficient method of contact regarding your stay, and for emergency purposes, consent is not required to rent one of our homes. If you would prefer not to receive any text messages, simply let us know and we will contact you by email or phone instead.

What you’ll receive

Messages are transactional and sent by the property owners.

Examples of what you may receive:

  • Booking confirmation after reservation
  • Payment reminders ahead of any balance due
  • Check-in details (door code, arrival instructions, access codes, property notes) a few days before your stay
  • A quick hello during your stay to check that everything is as it should be
  • Answers to questions you send us about the property, the area, or your stay
  • A brief thank-you and review request after checkout

Messages are typically sent from automated templates (e.g. booking confirmations, payment reminders, check-in packets) but may occasionally be sent directly by the property owners when replying to a guest’s question or providing in-stay support. All messages — automated or operator-sent — relate only to your specific reservation or inquiry and follow the same opt-in and opt-out rules.

We do not send unrelated, nor third-party messages through this program.

Door County Stay: Hi Sarah. Thanks for booking Carraig Mór for May 14-18! Your booking is confirmed. We’ll send check-in details about 7 days before arrival. Reply STOP to opt out. Msg & data rates may apply.

From Door County Stay:

Door County Stay: Hi Sarah. A quick reminder that your balance for Carraig Mór is due Apr 30. You can pay any time in your guest portal. Questions? Just reply. Reply STOP to opt out.

From Door County Stay:

Door County Stay: Hi Sarah. Check-in details for Carraig Mór: door code 1234, check-in from 4pm May 14. Parking is at the top of the drive. Welcome basket is on the counter. Text us anytime! Reply STOP to opt out.

From Door County Stay:

Door County Stay: Hi Sarah. I hope you’re settling in at Carraig Mór. Let me know if you need anything at all. Reply STOP to opt out.

From Door County Stay:

Door County Stay: Thanks for staying with us, Sarah! If you enjoyed Carraig Mór, we’d love a quick review: [link]. Come back and see us. Reply STOP to opt out.

How often, and cost

Message frequency: Approximately 2 to 10 messages per reservation. Frequency varies based on your stay. A weekend booking typically receives fewer messages than a week-long stay.

Duration: From booking confirmation through one day after checkout. We do not send messages outside of an active reservation window.

Cost: Message and data rates may apply. Door County Stay does not charge for messages, but your mobile carrier may, depending on your plan.

How to stop, opt out or get help

To opt out: reply STOP to any message from us. You will receive one confirmation that you have been unsubscribed, and then no further messages related to this program. You can also email hello@doorcountystay.com asking to be removed.

If you opt out, we will still be able to reach you by email or phone call regarding your reservation — opting out only applies to text messages.

Your information

We collect only the information required to manage your reservation and communicate with you about your stay: name, email address, phone number, and reservation details. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number or any personal information with third parties for any purpose. Information may be shared with service providers (such as Twilio for SMS delivery and OwnerRez for reservation management) strictly to operate this service.

Your phone number and message content are processed by Twilio, our SMS service provider, subject to Twilio’s own privacy practices. Full details are in our Privacy Policy & Terms of Service.

Our verbatim opt-in message

After booking, you may receive a first text message asking for explicit confirmation before any further texts are sent. This message reads:

Door County Stay: Hi [Name], Welcome to your Carraig [cottage name] booking! I’d like to send you a few texts about your stay — booking updates, payment reminders, check-in details, and a quick hello while you’re here. Approximately 2–10 messages per reservation from now through one day after checkout. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out anytime. Just reply YES to confirm, or NO thanks if you prefer email or phone. See full details at doorcountystay.com/our-sms-policy/”

We only send further text messages to guests who reply YES or a similar affirmative. Guests who reply NO, or who do not reply, receive no further texts and are contacted by email or phone instead.

Supported carriers

Our messages work with all major U.S. carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, U.S. Cellular, and most regional carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
